MICHI SUSAN

Michi Susan was a native of Tokyo, Japan, but called Oklahoma home for almost three decades. Soon after arriving in 1978, she became a part of the Paseo Arts District where her studio resided in the Avalon Building. Not only was she well-known both nationally and internationally as a mixed media artist, but she strived to mentor and encourage other artists. This past year, the Paseo Arts Association was gifted a body of her work through her estate. The Paseo Arts Association is honored to display Michi Susan's imaginative art during the month of June in Gallery I and Gallery II of the Paseo Arts and Creativity Center and celebrate her legacy in the local art community.

Please visit thepaseo.org/michi for images and pricing of all artwork.

Born into a large family in Baghdad, Iraq, she has had the opportunity to travel throughout the Middle East visiting Malaysia, Iran, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Oman and Turkey. Abdullah’s time traveling and witnessing three wars firsthand changed how she saw the world. Through her work, she seeks to show the beauty inside her childhood memories as well as the inspiration and hardship of the heroes she has encountered throughout her life.
