Share your Saturday with us as we celebrate the whole complex of living. Learn a new dance and roll up your sleeves in the kitchen with our guest chefs & home cooks. We put Africa and African-Diasporic arts at the center, while incorporating the influences of our diverse OKC community.
This series is curated and organized by Marie Casimir and Chaya Fletcher, a duo of great creativity and strength! This series brings together dance and culinary artists to collaborate on a shared afternoon of movement, nourishment and community. Choreographer and Anthropologist Pearl Primus said, ‘Dance in Africa is not a separate art, but a part of the whole complex of living.’
“I am inspired by my Haitian-American upbringing, where food was prepared, while family and neighbors danced, music played and there was always an occasion to celebrate in our home.” - Marie Casimir
