Generations of Design

  • Little D Gallery 3003 Paseo Oklahoma City, OK, 73103 United States (map)

It all started in a little brick building on Western Avenue in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma back in 1955. The late Ron Thomson was gifted in the art of hand rendering and spent countless hours in his design studio putting his ideas to paper. Over the years, his son, Cam Thomson, soaked up the skill while peering over his father’s shoulder. Together, the father and son duo became “Thomson & Thomson,” specializing in interior and exterior design throughout the region. The two communicated design through their drawings. The hand rendering technique was then passed onto the 3rd generation when Cam’s daughter, Cody Thomson, and son, Ashford Thomson, joined the family business. Their training at Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah, GA emphasized heavily on technology, yet Ashford & Cody refuse to let the art of hand rendering become overshadowed by 3D computer programs. They believe that showcasing their father and grandfather’s work can inspire young designers to continue to hone in on their skills at the drafting table. A collection of the family’s original hand renderings created over the past 65 years will be on display at Little D Gallery on March 6th during Paseo District’s First Friday from 6-9pm
