Long-Running Comedy Open Mic Gets A New Home At The Historic Paseo Plunge
Public Access Open Mic has been running strong for four years and during that time it has attracted its fair share of weirdos, artists, poets, comedians, performers and general lunatics. It has recently moved to the historic Paseo Arts District and become the latest addition to The Paseo Plunge, a former public swimming pool and now home to the Literati Bookshop, Jennifer Woods Jewelry and Holey Rollers Sensible Sweets & Coffee. Though known as a comedy open mic, Public Access welcomes anyone to sign up and do five minutes of whatever they want, whether poetry, music or performance art.
What sets Public Access apart from other open mics is how inviting and welcoming it is to newcomers and how supportive it is to people who have a dream to perform. If you’ve ever wanted to perform in front of people, but didn’t exactly know what to do or where to do it, Public Access is the place. The host, Alex Sanchez, recognizes that performing can be scary and fosters a comfortable environment to make the first step as easy as possible while also providing a venue where people can reliably perform every week.
