Learning the art of traditional of stained glass is like taking a step back in time…we welcome new students as well as those with some stained glass experience looking for a springboard toward experimental creativity.
Before returning to Oklahoma City in 2015 from the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, Shawn Patterson owned Zenglass Studio, a successful stained glass retail store where she put into practice her 30 years of experience in creating original stained glass art and providing materials and instruction for aspiring valley stained glass artists.
Shawn is a proficient glass artist with extensive experience in historic restoration…participating in the restoration of the Tiffany windows at the Naval Academy Chapel in Annapolis MD. She was an active member of the Retail Art Glass Suppliers, contributing an article to their 2004 Art Glass brochure. Shawn was featured in an instructional video sponsored by Voice of America China and presented in Mandarin Chinese. She is also an accomplished painter in watercolor, oil and acrylic. She has sold and exhibited her glasswork and paintings throughout the United States.
This 5-week course we will focus on the copper foil technique made popular by Tiffany. You will learn all of the steps from the concept of design and pattern creation to soldering your finished piece…no prior experience necessary! It is totally hands-on and you will work at your own pace, with support nearby - knowing that help is just an arm’s length away.
All students who enroll in this course shall receive a Stained Glass Startup Toolbox, containing all of the tools & materials necessary for you to continue your craft. Packaged in the Toolbox are: glass cutter, breaker/grozier, Copper foil, soldering iron & solder and a pair of safety glasses. Students purchase their own glass and framing material from Prairie Arts Collective…we will always assist you with wise and economical choices.
Tuition for this class is $225

Classes meet once a week for 5 consecutive weeks on Wednesday evenings

If you and a group of friends would like to create together in a PAC class we offer a $10.00 discount for each participant’s class tuition on groups of three or more. Check with Shawn for additional details.

CLASS INFORMATION:
Space is on a first-come first served basis. Pre-registration required for all classes, since space is limited.
To reserve your spot please pay the full tuition prior to class. If weather is bad, we will reschedule.
Classes begin on time. You must be 18 years or older to attend a class.
Pregnant women are not allowed to take any classes due to health factors involved in lead exposure around a fetus.
If you wear reading glasses, BRING THEM.
