Propagation Made Simple

During this workshop, John Leonard will demonstrate basic propagation methods for house plants, succulents, cacti, and some garden vegetables. This includes the explanation of calloused and un-calloused cuttings, to use water or soil as a medium, conditions needed for propagation, and more. In addition we will touch on propagation of woody plants including shrubs, ornamentals, & tree grafting.

$30 for non-members, $15 for members.

John Leonard and his mother Mardel started and ran a 5 acre certified organic farm in 2000, in El Reno, Oklahoma. They produced certified organic produce, herb and bedding plants for local farmer's markets and restaurants. In 2009, John began working as chief gardener for the Kirkpatrick family's home in Nichols Hills, and in 2012 he was promoted to farm manager at the Kirkpatrick Family Farm in Yukon, Oklahoma. He manages a sheep herd, cows, donkeys, chickens, honeybees, gardens, vineyards and an orchard. John & Mardel are currently living and growing at the Urban Farming District in their converted garage greenhouse. John, his partner Stephanie Jordan, & mother Mardel currently raise and propagate plants & grow produce for the OSU-OKC Farmer's Market and local restaurants.
