Live from the Paseo Arts District, it’s The Literati Variety Show! A talk show featuring stand-up comedians, musicians, novelists, poets, activists, and journalists, all helping shape our city and our state through the stories we choose to tell. Hosted by Charles J. Martin, the Literati Variety Show will bring a late-night vibe to the state’s oldest arts district and progressive bastion of the Heartland.

October’s Literati Variety Hour will feature the September champion of OKC Story Slam, a featured comedian from the Public Access Open Mic, a sit-down conversation with activist and City Council candidate JoBeth Hamon, a performance reading by poet Kristen Grace, and the music of Guthrie’s Stranded At The Station paired with a novel chosen by Literati’s resident book concierge. 

The Literati Variety Hour intends to present storytelling as equal parts art and entertainment while celebrating our state’s heritage of tall tales, knee slappers, porch stompers, and heartbreakers. Future events will feature other vital musicians and spoken word artists, regional and national touring storytellers, and surprise visits from other local creatives.

This event is hosted by Literati Press Comics & Novels, an ambitious, subculture publishing company and bookshop located in The Paseo Plunge.
